The music world was stunned by the news of the death of Juan Alfonso Abreu, better known as Xtassy, a Dominican music producer and DJ who was part of the duo A&X (Alcover and Xtassy). Xtassy was only 37 years old when he passed away on February 4, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of hit songs and collaborations with artists such as Don Omar, Natti Natasha, and Daddy Yankee.

The two formed A&X, a production duo that specialized in urban and Latin music genres. They worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, such as Don Omar, for whom they produced the global smash hit “Danza Kuduro” in 2010, as well as other songs like “Taboo” and “Dutty Love”. They also helped launch the career of Natti Natasha, who featured on “Dutty Love” and later signed with Don Omar’s label, El Orfanato.
In 2016, A&X released their debut album as lead artists, titled “The Rise: Latin Street Hits”. The album featured 10 tracks that showcased their talent and versatility, as well as introduced several Dominican acts to the mainstream audience. The album debuted at No. 10 on Billboard’s Latin Rhythm Albums chart, according to Billboard.
A Loving Partner and Father

He was in a relationship with actress Dascha Polanco, best known for her role as Dayanara Diaz on the Netflix series “Orange Is the New Black”.
