Will Hartley was a young man with a bright future ahead of him. He was a 2022 graduate of Kirk Academy, where he played football and ran track. He was currently attending Holmes Community College and had a girlfriend, Skylar Hodges. He was loved by his family and friends, who described him as a kind, funny, and caring person.
But on March 4, 2023, Will’s life was cut short by a car accident that happened around midnight on Highway 35. According to WTVA, Grenada County Coroner Douglas Yates identified the victim as 17-year-old William Hartley. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Will’s funeral service was held on March 7, 2023, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada. Rev. Farrell Wilson and Bro. Ricky Williamson officiated the service, and Hon. Vince Marascalco and Mr. Richard Flautt delivered personal eulogies. Will’s classmates, teammates, and friends served as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
Many people expressed their condolences and sympathy to Will’s family and girlfriend on social media and online platforms. He also left behind a community that mourns his loss and cherishes his legacy.
