Phyllis Sues, a dancer and fashion designer who defied age and gravity with her remarkable feats of physical and creative expression, passed away on October 3, 2021, at the age of 98. According to Find a Grave, the cause of death appeared to be a heart attack. Sues was born on April 4, 1923, in Nassau County, New York, and grew up with a passion for music and dance. She performed on Broadway, toured with the USO, and launched her own clothing line in the 1970s. She never stopped learning and challenging herself, taking up tango, trapeze, skydiving, yoga, and more in her later years. She also survived cancer at age 79 and overcame arthritis and osteoporosis. She was an inspiration to many, as documented in a short film by Chapman University students called “Phyllis”. Sues is survived by her nieces, her great niece, and her beloved dog, Nicko.
