Nasser El Sonbaty, affectionately known as “The Professor,” passed away in his sleep during a visit to Cairo, Egypt. Sonbaty’s journey began in 1983 when he stepped into the world of bodybuilding. His first appearance in the Mr. Olympia competition was in 1994, where he placed 7th. Over the years, he competed in 13 amateur shows and 53 IFBB Pro shows. His best placing in the Mr. Olympia competition was in 1997, where he secured an impressive 2nd place.

His trademark round spectacles, fluency in several languages, and ability to showcase full abdominal muscles even at over 300 lbs in the offseason set him apart.
