The Man Behind the Mystery
Born on October 13, 1973, in Binghamton, New York, Matt was the youngest of six siblings. His family relocated to Concord, North Carolina, when he was just five years old. Despite the move, Matt held onto his fondness for Spiedies, cold weather, and the mountains. As a Concord High School Spider, he played saxophone in the marching band and concert orchestra. His academic journey led him to Appalachian State University, where he earned a BA in Communications and Marketing.
A Love Story
Matt’s life took a beautiful turn when he met Lecil. Their connection was instant, like the perfect balance of an IPA or a seasoned order of fries. For 22 wonderful years, they brought out the best in each other, seizing every opportunity to strike a prom pose and celebrate special moments.
The Mysterious Circumstances
On Friday, August 12, 2022, Matt set out for a hike, promising to return after a few hours. However, his lifeless body was discovered at McAlpine Park on Sunday. The cause of his death remains shrouded in mystery. Investigators ruled out foul play, yet questions linger. Was it an accident? Did he encounter wild animals? Or did something else transpire? The truth eludes us, leaving behind a void that Matt’s infectious spirit once filled.
