A Passion for Animation
Born with several congenital heart defects, Justin Wright’s life took a transformative turn when he received a heart transplant at the age of 12. His wish from the Make-A-Wish Foundation—to visit Disney World—solidified his love for animation. The tour of Disney’s animation studios fueled his passion, leading him to pursue a career in the field.
From Pixar to Presto
Wright’s journey led him to Pixar Animation Studios, where he worked as a Production Assistant. His dedication to education prompted him to leave Pixar temporarily to pursue formal training at the California Institute of the Arts. Upon his return, he contributed to notable projects, including the line drawings in the film Ratatouille (2007), the storyboards for WALL-E (2008), and the short film Presto (2008).
A Heartfelt Farewell
Tragically, on the evening of Tuesday, March 18, 2008, Justin Wright collapsed at Pixar and died instantly of a heart attack—just ten days after celebrating his 27th birthday. His legacy lives on through his animation work, inspiring future storytellers and artists.
