– Aragorn is the 39th heir of Isildur, related to him through direct bloodline stemming from Isildur’s son, Valandil – the only son that survived the Disaster of Gladden Fields.
– The bloodline went in unbroken succession from father to son. However, some Kings of Arnor didn’t have any sons, so their nephews took over the throne. On other occasions, Kings were killed, so their brothers or cousins took the crown.
– Isildur was the ancient King of Arnor and Gondor who cut the One Ring from Sauron’s hand at the end of the Second Age but failed to destroy it. He was killed by Orcs soon after and the Ring was lost for centuries.
– Aragorn was born in the Third Age and raised by Elrond in Rivendell who kept his true identity secret until he was 20 years old. He then became a Ranger of the North known as Strider and helped Frodo and his companions in their quest to destroy the Ring.
– Aragorn also fell in love with Arwen, Elrond’s daughter and a descendant of Luthien Tinuviel, an Elf who married a mortal Man in the First Age. Their marriage was a symbol of the union of Elves and Men.
– After defeating Sauron and his forces in the War of the Ring, Aragorn was crowned as King Elessar of the Reunited Kingdom of Arnor and Gondor. He restored peace and prosperity to Middle-earth and ruled for 120 years until his death.
