He was also a member of the college’s men’s soccer team, playing as a midfielder. He had a 4.0 GPA and was a four-time member of the York College Dean’s List.

Ruehlicke graduated from Bishop Eustace Preparatory School in Pennsauken, New Jersey, in 2020. He was remembered as a kind, respectful, and polite young man by his former teachers and classmates. He was also a devout Catholic who attended Mass regularly.

Ruehlicke was found unresponsive in his dorm room on the morning of October 8, 2022. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the York County Coroner’s Office. Bishop Eustace Preparatory School held a Mass in his name on October 9 and made counselors available for students. The school posted on Facebook, “Our community is saddened to share the news of the passing of Andrew ‘Drew’ Ruehlicke from the Class of 2020… Please join us in extending prayerful condolences to the Ruehlicke family at this time of sorrow. May our Heavenly Father bring them His peace, comfort, and light, as well as the hope of the resurrection.”

York College of Pennsylvania also held a memorial service for Ruehlicke on October 11, where his soccer teammates, coaches, professors, and friends shared their memories and stories of him. The college also published an obituary on its website, saying, “He was a tremendous Spartan teammate that will be missed by his coaches and teammates.”

Ruehlicke is survived by his parents, John and Mary, his brother, Matthew, and his sister, Emily, as well as his extended family and friends.
