The Fatal Crash

The Aftermath
Mia Kovacs’ mother Edie Adams was devastated by her daughter’s death, as she had already lost her husband and her second husband Martin Mills in 1971. Edie Adams was in Biloxi, Mississippi, to be a judge in the 1982 Miss USA Pageant when she heard the news of Mia’s accident. She immediately returned to Los Angeles to be with her surviving daughter Kip.
Edie Adams later said that she blamed herself for Mia’s death, as she had given her the car as a gift. She also said that she felt guilty for not being with Mia when she died, as she had been with Ernie when he crashed. She said that she tried to cope with her grief by working hard and helping others.
Edie Adams died on October 15, 2008, at the age of 81, from pneumonia and cancer. She was buried next to Ernie Kovacs at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California. Mia Kovacs’ ashes were also interred there.
