How Joseph Kapacziewski Died: A Hero’s Tragic End

Joseph Kapacziewski, also known as “Kap”, was a retired U.S. Army Ranger who served with distinction in the 75th Ranger Regiment. He was the first Ranger to return to combat with a prosthetic leg after losing his right leg in an ambush in Iraq in 2005. He deployed 11 times in support of the Global War on Terrorism and received numerous awards and decorations, including three Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star with “V” device for valor.
