The Fatal Heart Attack
On July 1, 2023, Perez suffered a heart attack while directing a scene for the upcoming teleserye A Time for Us, starring Jericho Rosales and Malaysian star Carmen Soo. According to ABS-CBN News, he was rushed to St. Luke’s Medical Center, where he remained in critical condition for two weeks. He passed away on July 16, 2023, at past 10 p.m. He was 48 years old.
The Cause of the Heart Attack
According to Wikipedia, the cause of Perez’s heart attack was myocardial infarction, which is a medical term for the blockage of blood flow to the heart muscle. This can result in damage or death of the heart tissue, leading to cardiac arrest or heart failure. Perez’s remains were brought to ABS-CBN on July 22, 2023, for viewing at Studio 1. The final mass was held on July 23, 2023, at 9 a.m. in Studio 1. He was laid to rest at Arlington Memorial Chapel in Quezon City.
