Red Pollard was a Canadian jockey who rode the famous racehorse Seabiscuit. He was born in 1909 in Edmonton, Alberta, and had a successful but injury-prone career. He lost the vision in his right eye due to a rock thrown by another horse, and suffered several broken bones and internal injuries from falls. He retired from racing in 1955 and died in 1981 at age 71 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
