Early Life and Accident
Andy Detwiler, better known as the “Harmless Farmer” on YouTube, was born in Urbana, Ohio. He was the son of a farmer and a middle school teacher. At the tender age of two, Detwiler lost both of his arms in a tragic farming accident. Despite this life-altering event, he adapted to life without arms and continued farming corn, soybeans, and livestock alongside his family as an adult.

In 2018, Detwiler launched his YouTube channel, “Harmless Farmer”, where he shared scenes from his daily life on the family farm. His easygoing resilience and sense of humor about his differences inspired viewers around the world. Battle with Cancer
In 2020, Detwiler shared with his viewers that he had been diagnosed with esophageal cancer. He documented his journey, providing updates on his condition and treatment. Despite the challenges he faced, Detwiler maintained a positive attitude, often saying, “You’ve got to be able to make a joke out of bad things. If you can’t have a good attitude about something like this, you’re finished.”

Detwiler’s health took a turn for the worse when he contracted a serious case of pneumonia. He was being treated at Mercy Health-Urbana Hospital in Urbana, Ohio. Unfortunately, he also suffered an aneurysm. On September 21, 2022, at the age of 52, Andy Detwiler passed away due to complications from the aneurysm.
