Momoko Munnell was born on April 4, 2004, to Kameo and Melissa (Kirsch) Munnell. She had a younger brother, Kiyoshi, and a dog, Penny. She was a loving daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, and friend to many. She graduated from Keystone Oaks High School in 2022, where she excelled academically and artistically. She was a full-time student at Carlow University, majoring in Art Therapy. She was looking forward to transferring to Slippery Rock University in the fall of 2023.
Momoko had a passion for art and creativity. She was an independent small business owner on Etsy, where she sold cute art jewelry and adaptive products for chronically ill patients. She also enjoyed drawing, painting, baking, and making crafts. She had a unique style and a cheerful personality that shone through her work.
A Dedicated and Courageous Scout
Momoko Munnell was also an Eagle Scout in Troop 9006 in Brookline. She was one of the first female Eagle Scouts in the country, earning the rank in February 2021. She completed her Eagle Scout project by creating a sensory garden for the residents of Baptist Homes Society, a senior living community in Mt. Lebanon. She planted flowers, herbs, vegetables, and fruits that stimulated the senses of sight, smell, taste, touch, and sound. She also installed bird feeders, wind chimes, benches, and signs to enhance the garden.
Momoko was a leader and a role model in her troop. She participated in many camping trips, service projects, and merit badge workshops. She also mentored younger scouts and helped them with their advancement. She was proud of being a scout and embodied the scout oath and law in her daily life.
