Williams was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the sixth round of the 2001 NFL Draft, but signed with the San Francisco 49ers as a free agent. He played four seasons with the 49ers, mainly as a punt returner and backup cornerback. He recorded his only career sack and interception in 2003.
In 2005, Williams joined the Seattle Seahawks, where he became a co-special teams captain and played in Super Bowl XL against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He had two interceptions in his two seasons with the Seahawks, both against the St. Louis Rams.
